We are looking for a spray operator of farm equipment/machinery in order to assist the sugar cane production supervisor in the production and maintenance of sugar cane crop.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Operate and attach/hook-up all farm equipment and vehicles.
Visually inspect equipment and vehicles operated each day and report any deficiencies.
Operate tractor with farm implement to apply pesticides and fertilizers.
Operator an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) to spot spray pesticides and fertilizers.
Properly handle, manage, mix and apply various pesticides and other materials according to labels and instructions.
Perform various manual labor duties such as pulling debris from canals and picking up rocks.
Assist in other functional areas during off season.
Work a ten (10) hour shift with extended hours as necessary.
Perform all safety requirements as identified in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
Attend and participate in company safety meetings.
Assist in training new employees.
Participate in company sponsored training to improve job skills.
Operate equipment in other functional areas.
Qualifications - External EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
No specific education required.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:
Requires successful completion of a company drug screening.
Requires ability to repetitively mount and dismount equipment.
Requires ability to understand and follow directions in English or Spanish.
Requires minimum vision standards and depth perception.
Requires ability to follow directions from a supervisor.
Requires ability to interact effectively with co-workers.
Requires ability to understand and comply with posted work rules and procedures.
Requires ability to accept constructive criticism.
Requires ability to properly manage and handle pesticides, fertilizers, fuels, and lubricants.
SUPERVISORY
Responsibilities:
(IF APPLICABLE) No supervisory responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS (Lifting, Bending, Stretching, etc.
) Requires ability to withstand seasonal temperature changes and windy conditions for up to ten (10) hours per day.
Requires ability to withstand prolonged exposure to vibrating motions.
Requires ability to lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds.
Requires sitting for up to eight (8) hours per day.
Requires ability to repetitively mount and dismount equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in various field locations.
Work requires exposure to all temperature and weather extremes, moving equipment, wetness, dust, fumes, and require walking on soft muck and hard and uneven surfaces.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS Must be a team player who is willing to cooperate with others.
Must be able to accept corrective criticism from supervisor.
Must be willing to take on a variety of assignments as assigned by management on an as-needed basis within the department and within other areas of King Ranch if necessary.
